Question
1. A circular coil containing 250 turns of wire has a radius R=12.00 cm. The coil is rotating in a magnetic field, B= 0.38 T. Determine the maximum flux through this rotating coil. Determine the maximum Emf for the output leads of this coil. If the magnetic field, B, drops to zero in 0.11 seconds. 2. A coil like that in question 1 is now stationary and wound with a second coil of the same area. The second coil has 37 turns and is connected to a load resistor R= 200 Ohm's. Determine the voltage in the secondary coil, the current in the secondary coil and the current in the primary coil.
Explanation / Answer
1) maximum flux through coil is phi = N*B*A
given that N = 250 turns
B = 0.38 T
A = pi*r^2 = 3.142*0.12^2 = 0.045 m^2
then
phi = N*B*A = 250*0.38*0.045 = 4.275 N-m^2/C
maximum emf is e= d(phi)/dt = N*A*dB/dt = 250*0.045*(0.38/0.11) = 38.9 V
