The dog starts running when the owners are 10.0 m apart. If the dog runs with a speed of 3.0 m/s, and the owners each walk with a speed of 1.3 m/s, how far has the dog traveled when the owners meet? Explanation / Answer

Problem solving 2.71

When owners meet they have traveled toal distance = x= 10.0/2 = 5.00 m

Time required for owners to meet =t= x/vowner= 5.00/1.3 = 3.85 s

Distance that dog traveled = d= vdog*t = 3.00*3.85 = 11.6 m
