Question
Problem 22.34 Part A The long, thin wire shown in the figure (Fiqure 1) is in a region of constant magnetic field B. The wire carries a current of 6.2 A and is oriented at an angle of 7.5° to the direction of the magnetic field If the magnetic force exerted on this wire per meter is 3.4x10 N, what is the magnitude of the magnetic field? xpress your answer using two significant figures. mT Submit My Answers Give Up Part B At what angle will the force exerted on the wire per meter be equal to 1.6x10 2 N? Express your answer using two significant figures. Figure 1 of 1 Submit My Answers Give Up Continue I=6.2 AExplanation / Answer
A)
Given that
The cuurent carried by wire i = 6.2 A
The wire makes an angle with magnetic field is (theta) =7.5degrees
Force exerted on the wire per meter F/l = 0.034 N
Magnetic field B = ?
Then the force exert on wire is
F = Bil sin
F/l = Bi sin
The magnitude of magnetic field is given by
B =(F/l)/(i*sintheta)
= 0.034 N /(6.2 A)sin(7.5)
= 0.042T =42.013mT
B)
Therefore the angle will the force exerted on the wire is given by
F = Bisin
0.016N =( 0.042T)( 6.2A)sintheta
sinthea =0.016/0.2604=0.0614
theta =sin-1(0.0614)=3.5226degrees
