Question

Solve all parts correctly and circle answers 12. -5 polnts HRW10 29.P.036. Notes Ask Your Teac In the figure below, five long parallel wires in an xy plane are separated by distance d 3.95 cm, have lengths of 10.0 m, and carry identical currents of 6.50 A out of the page. Each wire experiences a magnetic force due to the other wires. In unit-vector notation, what is the net magnetic force on each wire? (Substitute numeric values, do not use variables.) (a) wire 1 F1 (b) wire 2 (c) wire 3 (d) wire 4 F 4- (e) wire 5

Explanation / Answer

a] F = summation u0*i^2L/(2pi r)

= 2e-7*6.50^2*10/0.0395 *[1/1 +1/2 +1/3+1/4] = 0.004456 j   N

b] F= summation u0*i^2L/(2pi r), here first and third wire will cancel each others force.

= 2e-7*6.50^2*10/0.0395 *[1/2 +1/3] = 0.001783 j N

c] because of symmetry F = 0 j   N

d] similar to second wire F = -0.001783 j N

e] similar to first wire F = -0.004456 j N
