Here Xc and Yc represents the centroid of the element area. And XR and YR are the co-ordinates of center of pressure. Which are used to determine the location of center of pressure in calculation of hydrostatic force on a plane surface. The center of pressure is usually below to the centroid. By calculating XR, YR you can find where the force will act.
