Question

Please show a step by step solution and what formulae you use. Shegave us a lot of formulae but I'm confused as to which one to use.(We're supposed to use one or two of these I think: F=ma;FApp - Ff = ma; FN = Fg= mg; Ff = umg, Ff=uFN = umg)
Problem: The coefficient for starting Friction(FApp) for wood on wood is 0.55 Newtons. What is theforce of friction of a wood block of Mass 3.5kg being pulled on awood floor?

I know the answer is about 18.8 Newtons, but I don't know how toarrive at this. I'm guessing I'm trying to find Ff buteven that I'm not sure about.

Explanation / Answer

Ff=usmg Ff=(.55)(3.5)(9.8) = 18.86 N
