Question
This seems to be an easy problem, and im coming up with -670m/s2 but that is apparently not the right answer. I dontknow what im doing wrong. Im simply using averageacceleration=v/tA tennis ball with a speed of 23.1 m/s is thrown perpendicularly ata wall. After striking the wall, the ball rebounds in the oppositedirection with a speed of 16.4 m/s. If the ball is in contact withthe wall for 0.01 s, what is the average acceleration of the ballwhile it is in contact with the wall? answer in units ofm/s2
Explanation / Answer
after the tennis ball hits the wall it rebounds in the oppositedirection, so the change in velocity is 23.1 - (-16.4) or 39.5,making the average acceleration 3950 m/s^2
