"The speed of sound in air is about 760 MPH. Suppose nowthat a police car is sounding its siren, and comng toward you at 80MPH. Is the sound of the siren coming toward you at 760 MPH +80 MPH = 840 MPG, as measured relative to the ground? Explain?"

   You are right, relative speed ( w.r.t.)ground   =   speed of sound + speedofcar   =   840   mph    Sould the car be going awar, you mustsubtract speed of car instead of adding.
