Question

I have a problem in which I am given several capacitors inseries and in parallel. The information given is thepotential difference across the entire circuit and the capacitanceof the capacitors. It then asks what the charge is on eachcapacitor. I figured out the total capacitance of the circuit and thencalculated Q using Q=CV, but I could not figure out how charge isdistributed between capacitors in series and in parallel. Cananyone help? Explanation / Answer

when three capacitors are connected inseries then the charge across each of them will be the same but thepotential    difference will be different on eachcapacitor that is    V1 = Q / C1    V2 = Q / C2       .........    when three capacitors are connectedin parallel then the charge across each of them willbe different but the potential    V2 = Q / C2       .........    when three capacitors are connectedin parallel then the charge across each of them willbe different but the potential    difference will be same on eachcapacitor that is which is on the battery    Q1 = C1 V    Q2 = C2 V       .........    difference will be same on eachcapacitor that is which is on the battery    Q1 = C1 V    Q2 = C2 V       .........
