Accorging to conservation of momentum [290+150]*9600=290*x+150(x+910) 3344000-136500=440x so x=7289.77==7290m/sec so the speed of 240kg mass is 7290m/sec and that of 150 kg mass is =7290+910=8200m/sec part b kinetic energy of the two parts beforeseparation=1/2*440*7600*7600=1.271*1010J kinetic energy of the two parts afterseparation=1/2*290*7290*7290 + 1/2*150*8200*8200                                                                        =1.275*1010J difference is due to change in the momentum
