Question

On a test track, a sports utility vehicle (SUV) of mass 2000kg,traveling at 12m/s, hits a stationary car of mass 1000kg.The carcrumples and stays in contact with the SUV; they move together as aunit.
Without doing calculations, which vehicle, if either, undergoes agreater change in velocity during the collision? How do youknow?
Without using formulas, guess the post-collision speed of the twovehicles.
Calculate the post-collision speed using momentum.

Please i need help on this and soon, i am totally stuck onthis!!!

Explanation / Answer

first this is a static collision their for thier is noelasticity or bouncing off of each other. so the conservation ofenergy states that the car is going to gain momentum because theforce of the suv and the velocity will be transferred when theimpact takes place. next part of the question about how do we figure out the speedof the vehicles after collison the speed will slow down some due tothe collision but should remain around 11 m/s because 12*2000equals 24000 N minus the thousand you ruflly will loose about 1 m/sbased on the collision momentum can simply be 2.3*10^4 meters of force acting in thedirection the suv was travelling
