Question

I have 4 problems that I am stuck on. 1) a ball is thrown in hte air and reaches the height of150 yards.      a) how long will it take (time)to reach that maximum height?      b) what is its velocity when it hitsthe ground?      c) what is the length of timethe ball is in the air? 2) A acar breaks down and the driver ends up pushing hiscar from a point for 266.4 m and it taks .6 min. If theacceleration of the car is .15m/s^2 ... what is the inital andfinal veliocity? 3) A bullet is fired vertically upward and reaches theheight of 2540m.      a) find the initalvelocity      b) what is the final velocitywhen it hits the ground?      c) how long is the bullet inflight? 4) An airplane is flhying 250 degrees South of west at400 mi/hr. and a wind is coming from 105 degrees Noth of West at 55m/hr.      a) What is the new velocity of theplane?      b) What is the new direction?      c) What is the elevation? Explanation / Answer

We have the equation of motion as v2-u2=2as When the ball is thrown up it is 0-u2=2*-g*H H=150yards=150*0.9144=137.16m From this we get the initial velocity. We have that, v-u=gt 0-u=-g*t From this we get the time taken. The velocity with which it hits is same as the initialvelocity of it. The length of time the ball is in air is t1=2t. Hence we get by it.
