Question
I'm probably over-thinking this, and I know it's easy, but couldsomeone help?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What is the net force acting on a car with a constant velocityof 70 km/hr...
a) on a levelroad? b) on an uphillroad?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My first inclination was that both are zero because:
F = ma
"a" will always be 0 of course, but am I missing something onthe left hand side of the equation being added to F such as mg(W)?
Thanks!
Explanation / Answer
You are correct. If a body moves with a constant speed it mayhave thousands of forces upon it however their vector sum will bezero. | F=0 when body is at rest or moves with a constantspeed. (I think this what Newton said in his first law ofmechanics. ) | You are doing good! Yes the acceleration a of the car isbig fat 0 like in zero.Related Questions
