Question

The drawing shows that a uniform magnetic field is directed perpendicularly into the plane of the paper and fills the entire region to the left of the y-axis. A rigid right triangle ABC is made out of copper xxx wire and rotates counterclockwise around the origin (point C). Fill in the table below for the direction of current induced in the triangle as it xxx crosses each axis. Define clockwise to be positive, and fill in each blank with+", "." or"o". iB (into paper) Induced current Axiiss ty-axis -x-axis -y-axis tX-axiS 23

Explanation / Answer

+y axis :

As it crosses y axis. flux through it increases and field is into the page.

to oppose this change in increase of flux, induced magnetic field will be out of page so current will be counter clock wise.

Ans: +

- x :axis :

there is no change in magnetic flux so induced current will be zero.

Ans: 0

- y axis:

now it will be going out of field region so flux will decrease hence induced field will be into the page so current will be clockwise.

Ans: -

+x axis: flux is zero and constant

hence no current

Ans: 0
