The masses of the ball and block are, respectively, 1.60 kg and 2.40 kg, and the length of the wire is 1.20 m. Find the velocity (magnitude and direction) of the ball (a) just before the collision, and (b) just after the collision.

Total energy at horizontal position= total kinetic energy justbefore impact

Mgh= 0.5*Mv^2

v^2 = (2*gh)

v^2= 2*9.8* 1.2

V= 4.85 m/s

V=(m1-m2)*u1/(m1+m2)

= (1.7-2.4)* 4.85/(1.7+2.4)
