Power is work divided by time. the units for work is J and the units for time is s. the more compact unit for power other than J/s is W. In the problem, the 1000MW in scientific notation is 10^3 MW. The M in MW stands for megawatts not to be mistaken for milliwatts(mW) MW is the same as 10^6 W So if you multiply the 10^3 by !0^6 you get 10^9 W Hopefully something i wrote answered your question.
