Question
The plates of a spherical capacitor have radii of 8.70 cm and 9.00 cm.(a)Calculate thecapacitance. I used c = 4(pi)(Eo)(((a*b)/(b-a)) No problem here
(b)What must be the plate area of a parallel plate capacitor withthe same plate separation and capacitance? Justused my capacitance from above and used C = (Eo)(A)/d to findarea think its good here
(c)If there is a 5.0V potential differenceapplied to the above plates calculate the electric field betweenthe plates. I believe its just V/d which would be 5/(.09-.087) not 100% sure.
(d) What is the surface charge density?
(e) Find the charge on each plate.
(f) What would be the surface charge density for the insidesphere?
as for these last 3 im not sure i beileve they just follow aformula nothing to serious, i would appriciate any help on d e andf. Thank you
Explanation / Answer
I'm guessing the method to C was correct? Is the Area in F justA=4(pi)r^2 for the inner radius?
