Question
A small block with mass "m" rests on a frictionless horizontaltabletop a distance r from a hole in the center of the table. Alight, stretch-less string tied to the small block passes downthrough the hole, and a larger block with mass "M" is suspendedfrom the free end of the string. The small block is set intouniform circular motion with a radius r and speed v. Find the valueof v for the small block such that the block will not move.I'm not sure if I use rotational KE or what to find the forceequivilent needed to holding the large mass up.
Explanation / Answer
Use force: Gravitational force = centripital force M*g =m*v2/r v= (M*g*r/m)Related Questions
