Question
#Fluid Statics Manometer :-
Manometers used to be common pressure-measurement devices, but, outside of laboratories, electronic pressure transducers are now more common. Manometers are sometimes still used to calibrate the pressure transducers.
In the calibration system shown below, the mercury manometer on the right and the pressure transducer on the left are both connected to a piston driven pressure sores filled with hydraulic oil (p=880 Kg/m^3). The bulbs connected to the transducer and the right side of the manometer are both evacuated (p=0).
During the calibration, the piston is moved to generate a pressure on both the manometer and the transducer. th manometer reading R is recorded, along with the output of the producer A (assuming a 4 to 20mA output current from from the transducer).
#Consider the following calibration data :-
-------------------------------------------------------
(B) Create a calibration table and graph showing the transducer output (mA) as a function of measured pressure
Pistion Settign hL (mm Oil) Manometer Readign (mmHg) Transducer Output (mA) 1.0 300.0 0.0 4.0 2.0 450.0 150.0 5.6 3.0 600.0 300.0 7.2 4.0 750.0 450.0 8.8 5.0 900.0 600.0 10.4 6.0 1050.0 750.0 12.0 7.0 1200.0 900.0 13.6 8.0 1350.0 1050.0 15.2 9.0 1500.0 1200.0 16.8 10.0 1650.0 1350.0 18.4 11.0 1800.0 1500.0 20.0Explanation / Answer
the calibration table has measure pressures at various positions
At position 1,
Measured Pressure = rho_Hg * g * h_Hg = 13600*9.81*0 = 0
At position 2,
Measured Pressure = rho_Hg * g * h_Hg = 13600*9.81*(150/1000) = 20012.4 Pa = 20.0124 kPa

calibration plot
Y-axis - transducer output (mA)
X-axis - measured pressure (kPa)
Relation between transducer output (y) and measured pressure (x) is
y = 0.08x +4
