Explanation / Answer
34- Fettling is the word which as different meaning such as polishing, cleaning and maintaing systems so that they will remain functional. In case of metal working or sandblasting the fettling refers to both to lining a chamber and cleaning the metal after moulding. Fettling refers to lining a chamber into which metal is poured for molding, and to cleaning metal after molding to remove the materials used for lining. In case of casting the fettling is very important to ensure that the parts will work properly.
35. Advantages of sandblasting:
a) sandblasting is very easy that is the process of sandblasting is quite easy.
b)it requires less machinery and also this process can be used for every material for the purpose of cleaning.
Disadvantages of sandblasting:
a) Since in sandblasting sand is used so therefore this may cause lung diseases like silicosis.
b) Sandblasting should be done in a ventilated area to prevent chocking. And this process should not be performed in naked skin because the particles like tiny steel balls, glass powder etc. will enter or penetrate into naked skin with high velocity.
19- Multiple cavity dies have several cavities which are all identical. If a die has cavities of different shapes, it’s called a combination or family die. A combination die is used to produce several parts for an assembly. For simple parts, unit dies might be used to effect tooling and production economies. Several parts for an assembly, or for different customers, might be cast at the same time with unit dies. One or more unit dies are assembled in a common holder and connected by runners to a common opening or sprue hole. This permits simultaneous filling of all cavities.
6- aadvantages and disadvantages for mass moderate, and job-lot production:
mass moderate can produce more amount of materials at a time and they can produce products at a quicker time. But the disadvantage is if once the equipment breaks down then all the production will be halted and the products which in process will be get affected which tends to great loss.
in case of job lot production the products are manufactured depends on the customer choice and order in this if once the equipment breaks down then all the production will be halted but the products which in process will be get affected which tends to loss but this loss is lesser than the loss of mass moderate. But the disadvantge of this is it require a skill person every time because it has to produce a product depends on customer choice every time and the costs for setup changes tend to be higher than other types of production, and raw materials can be varied and costly.
