A client company's executive is trying to justify renovating their old historic downtown headquarters building as a more sustainable option than a new construction in a rural area outside of town, but needs a short and convincing message to deliver to the board of directors.

Renovation of a building is always a better option than to construct a new one , if it would meet the need of near future. Because renovation does not invovle the dislocation of structure, no loss of new land for new construction. Renovation modifies the old looking building and hence modifies the surrounding scene. some other resons which support a renovation over new construction are listed below:-
1.Economic reason : New construction always deemands huge investment. additional investment on the land is needed for new construction in rural area outside of town. it also adds communication charges. shifting of whole setup to a new place also needs capital investment. less consumption of energy and materials in renovation than a new construction.
2. social reason: A historic building or district can be a tangible symbol of a community's interest in honoring its heritage, valuing its character and sense of place, getting the most out of prior investments in infrastructure and development, and encouraging growth in already-developed areas.
3. Environmental reason: no new consumption of land in structure enhance the environmental condition of country. less consumption of energy and material does not lead to the over exploitation of natural resources and hence saves enviroment.
