In the question 9, it is said that the discharge for the sub-division is 100 cfs.
In the table 1, the values for precipitation is calculated at different stations and it is asked if the canal can handle this storm event and sustain.
Take the 90% values of the precipitation given and multiply the precipitation value by the area covered which gives you unit in^3.
Now, this value is obtained for 3 days i.e, 72 hours. So, convert it in in^3/s and the to cfs( i.e, cubic feet/sec).
If the value obtained is more than the designed value then the canal design fails to sustain the wet period and vice- versa.
A 10] The recommendations for the contractor would be to increase the area or the depth such that the design discharge value is increased and made greater than that of the value obtained in above question.
