Question
I have a project for the Geotechnical Engineering course. I have to calculate the volume of the dike of a dam. Please i need help to calculate the volume of each zone of the dike and then the total volume. I tried to find the dimensions(height, width) of each zone using slopes, so i can put it on sketchup but i blocked. Please help with much details possible.
given data : -the height of the dike : 26m
-the length of the dike : 245m
So for each zone, the volume is the area*245m, but i block finding the dimensions of each zone.
the dike :

For calculation of the volume of the zones of dike, you need to conduct the stability analysis of the slopes and then find out the ranges of the levels. Also the capacity of the dam is to be known for getting the total volume of the dike. As this is a complex analysis of the slope formation and is mostly non predictable, a probablistic approach is to be followed which can be easy with the use of D-Geo-Stability software; which gives direct results with the input of data for different zones.
