Question 77
In the environment, nonyl phenols are degradation products of what types of chemical products? Triclosan has endocrine activity. What Is the primary use of this compound in consumer products? What are the three main classes of surfactants? What two types of chemical behavior are combined Into every surfactant? Why Is possible that so many different specific chemical molecules have seen use as surfactants? Why do soap molecules tend to accumulate at the air/water surface? Exactly how does a surfactant work as a "dispersant" for oil or grease? This is a sodium laureth sulfate molecule. It has the chemical features of two types of surfactant built in... what are they?Explanation / Answer

A.77]
Dispersants contain molecules with a water-compatible (hydrophilic)and oil-compatible (lilophilic)end.
Mechanism:
1. During the cycle, the surfactant mixes with the water.
2. Grease of the surfactant molecules starts attaching themselves to the dirt on one end while on side of chain is attached to the water molecule.
3. when given a liitle amount of external energy , the water molecule pull the surfactant and the dirt away from the main object.
