Refer to Fig. 5-38. Let the mass of the block be 8.5 kg and the angle be 30°. Find (a) the tension in the cord
I know acceleration is zero and it will only be the net force along the x-axis and I even get the calculations of the process. What I don't understand is where the mgsin() comes from in T - mgsin() = 0 . I know it has to do with the triangles but i don't see the correlation.
This is probally a moronic misunderstanding on my part and hopefully an easy question to answer, thank you in advance.

The forces in the plane must = 0 since its not moving. there are only 2 forces. T, and the component of the mass thats in line with the cable. therefore T = mgsin, or T - mgsin = 0
