Question
can you please answer the following questions in a short and easy way to remember. thanks. this is for introduction to biology. please check your grammar and typos. thank you.
1. life can be studied at many levels, from the molecular to the global. explain what this means.
2. living things can be studied at various levels. from the ecosystem to the chemical level, arrange the nine levels in sequence starting with the most general/comprehensive
3. contrast elements and compounds; cite two examples of each.
4. write the chemical symbols of selected elements, given their names, and vice versa.
Explanation / Answer
1. A living organism is composed of many different organs which plays a vital role in for the survival of the organism. starting from the molecular level to the global level i.e., each organ of the organism is made of tissues and tissues are made of cells and again cells are made of many small molecules and compounds such as carbohydrates, lipids, protiens, nucleic acids etc, on the other hand study at a global level means the study of the organism based on population i.e.,the study of the organisms having same genotypes and phenotype sharing th esame habitat in an ecosystem. therefore study of life can be done choosing a particular species of interest in a molecular or global level.
2. levels of organisation-organelle, cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, organisms, populations, communities, ecosystem, and biosphere.
3.An element is a substance consisting of atoms which all have the same number of protons - i.e. the same atomic number. Elements are chemically the simplest substances and hence cannot be broken down using chemical methods.A compound is a substance that has two or more chemical elements whose atoms are bonded together. These atoms are chemically bonded in specific ways and in detailed proportions, and the substances cannot be readily separated through simple physical means
Examples of elements include oxygen, hydrogen, sodium, chlorine, lead, iron.
Examples of compounds include water ( or hydrogen oxide ) H2O; and Sodium Chloride, NaCl. H is the symbol for hydrogen; the number 2 as used here means there are 2 atoms of the element hydrogen in every molecule of the compound water. O is the symbol for the element oxygen.
4. elements O,H,Cl,Pb,Fe
