Question

Suppose that you are holding a pencil balanced on its point. If you release the pencil and it begins to fall, what will be the angular acceleration when it has an angle of 10.0 degrees from the vertical?

I have the forces that are acting on the pencil, the normal force would be from the table to the axis of the pencil and the weight would be from the axis to the table but I cannot figure out how to get the radius of either one. I tried 0.0375 and the feedback was Not Quite but I don't know where I messed up in the calculations?

What is the distance r_n between the point of application of n_vec and the axis of rotation? What is the distance r_w between the point of application of w_vec and the axis?
