A· What do molecular systematic approaches to phylogeny reconstruction tell us about evolutionary relationships among prokaryotes?
B· What are the five major lineages in Bacteria?· How many lineages do we currently recognize in Archaea? Name three critical differences between Bacteria and Archaea.?
C· Life on Earth would be quite possible without humans, but unlikely without prokaryotes. Explain this statement and comment on the critical roles played by prokaryotes in the biosphere ?
Explanation / Answer
Que-1: What do molecular systematic approaches to phylogeny reconstruction tell us about evolutionary relationships among prokaryotes?
Answer:
The molecular systematic approaches are uses other systematic genomic DNA data and protein molecules (proteomics) to phylogeny reconstruction of prokaryotes. These approaches are potentially enabled to unravel evolutionary relationships among prokaryotes as per gene expression properties and protein expression properties. The recent molecular approach is that ribosomal RNA is also one of major tool used to explain evolutionary aspects of prokaryotes. The other aspects such as horizontal gene transfer phenomenon (transduction, conjugation, transformation) an be another differential aspect that depicts bacterial genome of 17% is nearly alien origin & some of them are mobile elements
