Question
The coefficient of kinetic friction between a refrigerator (mass 99 kg) and the floor is 0.14, and the coefficient of static friction is 0.35. If you apply the minimum force needed to get the refrigerator to move, what will the acceleration then be? *I know that if I find the minimum force, I can complete the problem, however, I do not know how to find it because there are no angles given. Any suggestions? Thank YouThe coefficient of kinetic friction between a refrigerator (mass 99 kg) and the floor is 0.14, and the coefficient of static friction is 0.35. Explanation / Answer
the frictional force is depending on normal reaction of the body. here there no need to nagle because of horizontal motion. the minimum force requared to move the refrigerator is balanced by frictional force. F = Fs = µmg = 0.35*99*9.8 = 339.5 N the minimum force is '339.5 N'. suppose if we apply this force, by applying newton's 2nd law of motion ma = F - µmg =339.5 - 135.8 a = 2.05 m/s^2 the acceleration of the body is '2.05 m/s^2'.Related Questions
