Question

<DIV>Three wires are connected at a branch point. One wire carries a positive current of <FONT color=red>12</FONT> A into the branch point, and a second wire carries a positive current of <FONT color=red>10</FONT> A away from the branch point. Find the current carried by the third wire <I>into</I> the branch point.<BR><SPAN class=qTextField><INPUT id=RN_1427339_0_0_1429302 dir=ltr size=10 name=RN_1427339_0_0_1429302 autocomplete="off"></SPAN></DIV>

Explanation / Answer

Basically the branch is one incoming current wire, and two parallel wires branching off of it. Since the total current for the diagram of the circuit is 8 A and there is 2 A going through one of the wires branching off, the other one must have 6 A to equal the 8 A of total current for the circuit
