Explanation / Answer
Glycolysis is a metabolic process where glucose is split to produce pyruvate, through a series of enzyme catalysed biochemical reactions. In anaerobic glycolysis, the same steps involved in aerobic glycolysis occurs until pyruvate is formed. Later, the pyruvate undergoes a process called lactic fermentation in the muscles.
The function of Fructose 1,6-bisphosphatase is to convert fructose-1,6-bisphosphate to fructose 6-phosphate, and this process occurs in gluconeogenesis (generation of glucose). While in glycolysis, fructose 6-phosphate is converted into fructose-1,6-bisphosphate (NOTE : reverse reaction) which is catalysed by phosphofructokinase enzyme. The Fructose 1,6-bisphosphatase enzyme does not take part in glycolysis.
It must also be noted that, in anaerobic glycolysis, both ATP and NADH are produced.
Therefore,the option A is wrong.
