1a.) Calculate the electrostatic force between a +441 C charge anda -772C charge that are 31 cm apart.
1 N

b.) A 8943 ? resistor has a6.11 A current passing through it.Determine the power loss of the resistor.
1_____W

c.) The primary coil of a transformer has 563,000 loops. The secondary coil has 4,315 loops. The primary coil has a 92 A current and 47V.
Calculate the voltage in the secondary coil.
4 V
Calculate the current in the secondary coil.
5 A

d.) You are standing on a canyon edge and you give a shout. After1 s have passed, you hear your echo.The temperature at the canyon is 31.9°C.

Determine the speed of sound.
1 m/s
Determine how far away the cliff wall is that your voice bouncedoff of.
2 m

Explanation / Answer

Charges q = 441 * 10 ^ -6 C

             Q = -772*10^-6 C

Separation r= 31 cm =0.31 m

Electro static force F = KqQ / r^ 2

Where K = 8.99*10^9 Nm^ 2/ C ^ 2

Plug the values we get F = 31848.73 N

(b). Resistance R = 8943 ohm

Current I= 6.11 A

Power loss P = I ^ 2 * R

                     = 333860.9 W

(c). N = 563000

      N ‘ = 4315

      I = 92 A

     V = 47 V

We know V ‘ / V = N ‘ / N

From this V ‘ = V * ( N ‘ / N )

                      = 0.36 Volt

Also we know I ‘ / I = N / N ‘

     I ‘ = 12003.7 A

(d). Speed of sound vt = vo [ 1+( t/546) ]

                                     = 331 [ 1+ ( 31.9 / 546 ) ]

                                      = 350.33 m / s

We know distance S = vt / 2

                                  = ( 350.33* 1 ) / 2

                                  = 175.16 m
