Question
31. An ideal gas at a temperature of 39°C has a pressure of2.00 atmospheres and a volume of 2.10 liters. What is thetemperature if the pressure is halved and the volume istripled?A. 155°C B. 175°C C. 188°C D. 195°C E.204°C
I know the answer is D. I know you use p1v1/t1=p2v2/t2. Also Ithink you keep pressure in atm, convert T into Kelvins, changeliters into meters cubed by multiplying by ten to the negativethree and I assume you just solve for T2. Obviously something hereis not right because I'm nowhere around the right answer. Pleasehelp!
Explanation / Answer
According to the ideal gas equation we have (P1V1/T1) =(P2V2/T2) or T2 =(T1/P1V1) *P2V2 where T1 = 39 oC,P2 =(P1/2) and V2 = 3V1 where T1 = 39 oC,P2 =(P1/2) and V2 = 3V1Related Questions
