f = 5.1 cm = .051 m do = 17 m Using the following formulas from chapter 25: 1/f - 1/do=1/di -(di/do) =magnification I get numbers somewhat like yours if I don't convert the focallength of the mirror to meters first. And I see your input numbersare different from the cramster solution. Because the truck is 34xas far as the focal length, di should benearly at the focal point.
