Question
400 level biochemistry
Think spliceosomes, group 1, group 2 mechanisms to remove introns for mRNA production. question:
There is no evidence of DNA splicing, however could this reaction take place? IF so, what necessary functional groups/elements/molecules are utilized to complete the chemistry? please explain your answer in detail. I'm researching the question as well. I need a detailed answer, so either take your time and think about the possiblities or move on to someone elses question. Thank you.
Explanation / Answer
This splicing mechanism cannot be applicable to the DNA molecule. DNA molecule consists of coding regions which transcribe to RNA which codes for protein.. Moreover there are some non-coding regions in the DNA also which are called Junk DNA.. The main purpose of these DNA is that it codes for that RNA which are other than protein coding RNA like t-Rna,, r-Rna etc.. Hence these can not be removed from the DNA.. It also provides stability to the DNA. Hence Splicesome cannot be possible for DNA..!!
