Question

This isn't really a question because I've figured it out already:
In part b, when finding drift speed, you have to convert theunits of charge density from A/m2 to A/cm2.
So the actual value of charge density used in the calculationis 3.24x10-16A/cm2, not 3.24x10-12A/m2.
In part b, when finding drift speed, you have to convert theunits of charge density from A/m2 to A/cm2.
So the actual value of charge density used in the calculationis 3.24x10-16A/cm2, not 3.24x10-12A/m2.

Explanation / Answer

charge density = 3.24x10-16A/cm2 But when converting units we know that           100 cm = 1m ==> 1 cm = 1m / 100 = 1 x 10-2 m so that we have           cm2 = 1 cm * 1 cm = 1 x 10-2 m *1 x 10-2 m = 1 x 10-4 m2 =10-4 m2 Therefore we can write charge density =3.24x10-16A/cm2 = 3.24x10-16A/10-4 m2 =3.24x10-12A/ m2
