Question
I'm not sure what I am doing wrong for this problem. Two stationary point charges of 3.00 nC and 2.00 nCare separated by a distance of 60.0 cm. An electron isreleased from rest at a point midway between the charges and movesalong the line connecting them. What is the electric potentialenergy of the electron when it is A) at the midpoint. B)14cm from the 3nC charge. I used the formula PE=kqq/r and came up with1.8*10-7 and it was wrong. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong for this problem. a)8.99*109*1.6*10-19*(3.00*10-6/0.300+ 2.00*10-6/0.300) = 2.40*10-14 J b)8.99*109*1.6*10-19*(3.00*10-6/0.14+ 2.00*10-6/0.46) = 3.71*10-14 J
