For the resultant force you would use the pathagorean theorem. 6.55^2 + 8.44^2 = resultant^2 (6.55^2 + 8.44^2) = resultant = 10.68N For the direction, imagine the x,y plane. West would then be thenegative x direction and north would be the positive y direction.To find direction we use the inverse tangent function. Arctan( y / x ) = resultant angle Arctan(8.44 / -6.55) = -52* From the positive x direction, the angle would be 128 degreesccw From the negative x direction it would be 52 degrees cw In NSWE, it would be 38 degrees west of north
