R1 and R2 are in parallel
R = R1 R2 / (R1 + R2)
= 5*8 / (5 +8) = 3.07 ohm
R and R3 are in series
R(equi) = 3.07 + 4 = 7.07 ohm
b) V = IR
I = 34/7.07 = 4.8 A
c) Potential across R3 = I*R3 = 4.8*4 = 19.2V
d) potential difference across point a and b = 4.8*3.07 = 14.74 V
e) current through R1 = 4.8*8 / (8 + 5) = 2.95 A
f) current through R2 = 4.8*5 / (8 + 5) = 1.85 A
