Question

Neurobiology...Please read instructions carefully.

Species: Midshipman Fish
Cell Type: Sonic motor neuron

Morphology: What is the morphology of this neuron type? What types of dendrite(s), axon(s) and soma does it have?

2 organized paragraphs answer with 3 references. (APA format peer-reviewed)

Citations to the sources of these answers and the references (in APA format) for all the literature cited. Research must be on the sonic motor neuron of the Midshipman fish NOT fish in general. Thank you!

Explanation / Answer

Sonic muscle if midshipman fish is innervated with single nerve. The cell body of motoneurons are round to ovoid-shape and the dendrites are branched. The axon is unbranched and emerges from the soma or near the base of a primary dendrite. It forms synapses with sonic muscle fibres after emerging from the brain through an occipital nerve.
