Question
wires in the figure to the right, what is the magnitude of the magnetic field at the point P? 2 912 mm a. 1.0 mT b. 2.3 mlT c. 40 mT d. 1.9 T e. 90 kT 22mm 1-7A 3. If the current in the vertical wire is reversed (1-10A), what is the magnitude of the magnetic field at the point P? a. 1.2 mT b. 2.3 mT c. 40 mT d. 1.9 T e. 90 kT . What are the directions of the current-generated magnetic fields at point P in questions 2&3? a. Into Page (2), Into Page (3) b. Into Page (2), Out of Page (3) c. Out of Page (2), Into Page (3) d. Out of Page (2), Out of Page (3) e. To Right (2), To Right (3) f. To Left (2), To Left (3)Explanation / Answer
Solution:
Considering you have solved question 2 and 3
Now we can use right hand rule to find the direction of magnetic field generated at point p.
if u see direction of magnetic field due to current (I = 10 A ) at point p is out of the page (using Right hand Rule)
and direction of magnetic field due to current (I = 7 A) at point P is into the page (Using Right hand Rule)
Now as you have solved Question 2 , Magnitude of magnetic field due to current ( i = 10 A) is more than the magnitude to the magnetic field due to current (I = 7A)
So, Direction of Net Magnetic Field is Out of the Page(2)
In Question 3 we are reversing the direction of current in wire ( I = 10A)
Again Using Right hand Rule we can say that direction of magnetic field at p due to current (i = 10 A ) is into the page
And we have seen earlier that direction of magnetic field due to current (i = 7A ) is into the page.
So, That implies that,
Direction of Resultant Magnetic field is Into the page
We can say Option C is Right
Please do comment for Queries ( and i considered that u have solved 2 and 3 if want solution for that too please comment)
Thanks.
