Question
Select all that are TRUE concerning pressure changes during quite breathing. When the intraplural pressure is held constant at its most negative pressure, air is continuing to flow into the lungs. Only when the pleural pressure is changing is the alveolar pressure not equal to 0 mm Hg. Answers: When the in pressure is held constant at its most negative pressure, air is continuing to flow into the lungs. Only when the pleural pressure is changing is the alveolar pressure not equal to 0 mm Hg. The pressure inside the lungs is equal to atmospheric pressure when the intrapleural pressure is at its highest The pressure inside the lungs is equal to atmospheric pressure when the intrapleural pressure is at its lowest.Explanation / Answer
Answer- When the intaplural pressure is held constant at its most negative pressure, air is continue to flow into the lungs .only when the pleural pressure is changing, is the alviolae pressure not equal to 0mmHg
Explaination - gases enter into the lungs or alviolae because of the pressure difference in atmosphere and alviolae.(Patm-Palv) and also it depends upon the lungs volume.
we can compare it with boyle's law pressure exerted by number of gas molecules is inversely proportional to the volume of container.
lungs volume depends upon the plural fluid pressure.Pressure exerted by the plural fluid on alviolae represented as ip.ip restrict the alvioler wall to expand thus the alvioler volume will be small.but the gas pressure will be high inside the alviolae.
If ip is higher than the P alv in lungs,it exert a pressure on alvioler wall and thus lungs volume reduces and air pressure inside the lungs becomes higher than atmosphere and becomes more than more than 0 mmHg (0 mmHg pressure is equal to atmosphere pressure) so because of high air pressure in alviolae than atmaosheric pressure air flow from low pressure to high pressure that is from atmosphere to alviolae.
