Question

A solenoid of length 8.0 x 10-2 m and cross-sectional area 5.0 x 10-5 m2 contains 6500 turns per meter of length. Determine the emf inducted in the solenoid when the current in the solenoid changes from 0 to 1.5 A during a time interval of 0.20 seconds. Explanation / Answer

Induced emf=- change in magnetic flux/time

Magnetic flux=BA

B=permeability×n×I

So induced emf=-permeability×n×A×change in current/time

emf=- 4×3.14×10^-7×6500×5×10^-5×1.5/0.2=- 3.1×10^-6V
