MasteringPhysics Online Homework help plz.

A transverse wave on a string is given by the formula D (x, t) = 0.20 sin(3.3x -64.0t), where D and x are in m and t is in s. At t = 4.7 times 10^-2 s, what is the transverse displacement of the point on the string where x = 0.54m? Express your answer using two significant figures. D(0.54m, 4.7 times 10^-2 s) = -4.28 times 10^-3 m At t = 4.7 times 10^-2 s, what is the (transverse velocity of the point on the string where x = 0.54m? Indicate the direction of velocity with the sign of you answer. Express your answer using two significant figures. partial differential D/partial differential t (0.54m, 4.7 times 10^-2 s) = -13 m/s.

Explanation / Answer

Par A

D(x,t) = 0.2sin(3.3x - 64t)

at t = 4.7X10-2s, and x = 0.54 m

D(x,t) =  0.2sin(3.3(0.54m) - 64(4.7X10-2s))

or, D(x,t) = -0.188 m

Part B

D(x,t) = 0.2sin(3.3x - 64t)

velocity is;

v = d[D(x,t) ]/dt = 0.2(-64)cos(3.3x - 64t)

so at t = 4.7X10-2s, and x = 0.54 m

v = 0.2(-64)cos(3.3(0.54m) - 64(4.7X10-2s))

v = -4.33 m/s

P.S. - everything you did was right except you calculated cos and sin using degree. If you had set your calculator to radian your answers would have been abolsutely correct....
