Logarithm functions come in different varieties. The most common are the natural logarithm (usually denoted by ln) and logarithm with base 10 (usually denoted by log). In our class we use the logarithm with base 10, and denote it by log_10 to avoid any confusion. Notice what the log_10 function does to large and small numbers: If we know the value of log_10(a), can reconstruct the original number. For example, if log_10(a) = 4.35, then a = 10^4.35 = 22400 = 2.24 times 10^4. Complete the following chart following the examples:
