Question

I need correct answer for this question thanks!

A 0.160 kg glider is moving to the right on a frictionless, horizontal air track with a speed of 0.900 m/s It has a head-on collision with a 0.296 kg glider that is moving to the left with a speed of 2.18 m/s. Suppose the collision is elastic. Find the magnitude of the final velocity of the 0.160 kg glider. Find the direction of the final velocity of the 0.160 kg glider to the right to the left Find the magnitude of the final velocity of the 0.296 kg glider Find the direction of the final velocity of the 0.296 kg glider. to the right to the left

Explanation / Answer

here

m = 0.160 Kg

u1 = 0.90 m/s

u2 = - 2.18 m/s

m2 = 0.296 Kg

Using conservation of momentum

0.160 * 0.90 - 2.18 * 0.296 = 0.160 * v1 + 0.296 * v2 ---(1)

for the elastic collision

e = (v2 - v1)/(0.90 + 2.18) = 1

solving 1 and 2

v2 - v1 = 3.08 ---(2)

solving 1 and 2

v1 = -3.01 m/s

v2 = - 0.019 m/s

part A)

the magnitude of velocity of 0.160 Kg is 3.01 m/s

part B) to the left

part C)

the magnitude of velocity is 0.02 m/s

part D)

to the left
