What is the equivalent resistance between points A and B in the circuit shown below? Ans: 120 00 190 2. What is the emf of the battery in the picture below? What is the potential difference between points A and B of the battery? How much power does the 50 internal resistances dissipate? Ans V; 15 V; 1.25 W 200 100 50 0.5 A Be 4. Determine the current in each branch in the circuit pictured below. Ans: 5 A; -6 A; -1 A 18 V Determine the current in the 10-V emf. (Ans: 2.3 A)

Explanation / Answer

Q1.

We break the circuit into parts,

So, starting with right side
RA = 34+10+19 = 63 Ohms

RA is in parallel with 18 Ohm,

So,
RAB = 1/(1/63+1/18) = 14 Ohms

Now, RAB is in series with 9 & 6 Ohm,

So, RABC = 14+9+5 = 28 Ohms

Now, 29 Ohms is in parallel with 21 Ohms,

So, Req = 1/(1/28+1/21) = 12 Ohms
