Question
600 .
(a) Find the resistance across a 11.0 cm2 section of the skin.
(b) Find the resistivity of the skin, assuming it is 1.04 mm thick.
(c) Suppose the area of contact of each hand with a conductor is reduced to 1.11 cm2. Find the resistance between the hands.
If someone can please explain and figure this problem out for me because me, and 5 other people have all attempted to solve it.
For part A I did 11,000=2R+600 ohm. The answer I got was 5,200 ohm and it was wrong. I also tried making it negative but it was still wrong.
For part B I used the equation R=pL/A
R=(5200)(11)/.104
The answer I got for this one 5500 ohm*m
Explanation / Answer
1. R = Rb+2Rs ==> Rs = (R-Rb)/2 = (10700-600)/2 = 5050 ohms.
2. mu = Rs*area/L = 5050*11.0E-4/0.00104 = 5341.35 ohm-m
3. Rs2/Rs = area/area2 ==> Rs2 = Rs*area/area2 = 5050*11/1.11 = 50045.05 ohms
R2 = Rb+2Rs2 = 600+2*50045.05 = 100690.1 ohms
