Question

Please help this is the 3rd time i post this question on chegg and it keeps getting it wrong the answer IS NOT 2.303 please help :)

While taking photographs in Death Valley on a day when the temperature is 59.0°C, Bill Hiker finds that a certain voltage applied to a platinum wire produces a current of 1.000 A. Bill then travels to Antarctica and applies the same voltage to the same wire. What current does he register there if the temperature is -88.0°C? Assume that no change occurs in the wire's shape and size.

Explanation / Answer

Rt=R0(1+(T-T0))

of platinum wire=0.0045 link to get value of (http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/Tables/rstiv.html#c1)

R0=V/1A (consider the voltage to be 1)

Rt=V/Current

V/Current=V/1A (1+0.0045(-88-59))

Current=1/(1-0.6615)=2.9542 Ampere
