Question

Suppose Katarina and Levi did an in-class experiment and measured both frequency and wavelength of a sound wave, and found them to be 180 Hz, and 1.983 m, respectively. What speed of sound does this imply? (Find your answer in m/s, but do not enter units to CAPA, just enter the number)
For you to think about: Discuss briefly at least two different reasons why this answer is not exactly 344 m/s, like the book says it should be (would the reasons you came up with make the answer come out a little too high, low, or would it just be random? Why?)

Explanation / Answer

sol. SPEED OF SOUND (V)= FREQUNCY * WAVELENGTH

= 180Hz *1.983 m

=356. 94 m/s

However speed of sound depend on various things as for example velocity of source and observer or may depend on the velocity of medium air flowing however it doesnot depend on pressure.

So factors affecting it are responsible from the deviation from exactness.
